Clear Water Iron
When first poured, water with Clear Water Iron will be clear in appearance. However, after contact with the air the iron in the water will oxidize and turn it red. It will usually leave unpleasant yellow or reddish stains.
Small amounts of Clear Water Iron can be removed with a water softener, but to remove large amounts, more extensive treatment will be required.
Our most popular conditioner for removing large amounts of Clear Water Iron is our PAFI Series of filters. These filters allow the Clear Water Iron to be oxidized and removed before reaching your taps and appliances. We recommend installation of our optional Vent Tank to allow injected air some additional contact time before filtering.
Red Water Iron
Water containing Red Water Iron will have a reddish colour when drawn. The iron has already been oxidized in your well. This type of iron will leave unpleasant yellow or reddish stains and will interfere with other water conditioners that may be installed in your home.
Red Water Iron can easily be removed with our PAFI Series of filters.
Iron Bacteria
Most commonly found in toilet water storage tanks, Iron Bacteria appears as a reddish slime. Iron Bacteria will interfere with other water conditioning equipment and will require a chlorination system to treat it.
Chlorination is a process where liquid bleach or chlorine is introduced into the water stream before or after the pressure tank. The chlorinated water is flows into a chlorine contact tank to allow the chlorine to mix thoroughly with the water. From the contact tank, the water than flows through a whole house carbon bed to filter the water of the chlorine and water particles.
The chlorination system is also used to condition problem water where more than one or two problems are present. The equipment required when installing a chlorination system includes: Chlorine supply tank, automatic feed pump, chlorine contact tank, and whole house carbon filter.

Ultraviolet Lights
Ultraviolet light disinfection protects you and your family from waterborne diseases carrying micro-organisms without the use of chemicals. Exposure of these organisms to Ultraviolet Light disrupts their DNA structure, which destroys the cells' ability to replicate.
Homeowners should obtain a sample bottle from their local health unit and return it to have it tested for bacteria and coloform. If any of the two are present than a UV light may be required. If water is over 7 grains hard a water softener may be required before an installation of an Ultraviolet light.
We carry UV Dynamics, ultraviolet water sterilizers. This high quality product delivers the new higher UV doses now being recommended by major public health authorities.
